About 2 weeks ago, to be precise, November 5, 2023, I finished guiding my first 25H Traditional Hatha Yoga Immersion. It's a yoga training in the concept of a retreat; that’s why I call it an immersion. The students were not trained to “just know” what the teachings of Hatha yoga are or memorize the limbs, but to truly embody and become dedicated practitioners before they even start to teach them to other people (if they are yoga teachers). The retreat center was located in the Mount Batukaru area, away from the crowd. It was the perfect place to study and not get distracted by the external world.
We started the first day by paying respect to the Balinese people and their ancestors through a cleansing ceremony for allowing us to experience the absolute grace and beauty of this place. To be able absorb its healing energy. And to ask for their blessing, so our journey went smoothly. After that, nothing will set the foundation right without learning the foundation of yoga: Samkhya philosophy. The source of knowledge of Yoga and Ayurveda. To understand, from a yogic point of view, how we arrived in this world and what the purpose of yoga is for our body, mind, and soul.
The next few days were filled with practices, lectures, yoga discussions, deep talk about life, an amazing sound therapy session, delicious vegetarian foods, and truly absorbing knowledge of traditional Hatha yoga. The knowledge that I have comes from the Himalayan tradition of the Sri Vidya lineage. It was passed down by my teacher from his previous teacher in an unbroken lineage. A very ancient teaching yet very beneficial for this modern world. These teachings have helped human beings thrive in both spiritual and worldly life for thousands of years.
Seems too good to be true? Not really 🙂 Because I know the teachers and practitioners in this lineage, who have been practicing for years, feel the same way. They could see that their mind gets calmer, their energy is more vibrant, and they simply feel more aligned with their purpose in life. You’re welcome to come and see it for yourself, click here for more information.
Finally, through this article, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of the participants. Your dedication, commitment, and passion for this ancient practice have been truly inspiring. Your presence in this program has created a supportive and nurturing community, and the connections forged between us go beyond the mat. The energy and devotion you've shared have enriched this experience beyond measure.
I want to thank you for your trust and openness to these teachings. Your willingness to embrace the philosophy, delve into the practices, and deepen your self-awareness is proof of your commitment to personal growth and well-being.
As you continue your yoga journey, I hope you carry with you the wisdom and insights gained during this immersion. May you find strength, peace, and balance in your daily lives, and may your practice continue to be a source of transformation and serenity. I look forward to the ongoing connection we share on this path of self-discovery.
Hope to see you again soon!
